In short
Renqingbu does not have a server. There is no account to create, no login, and no cloud sync. Everything you enter — every person, every gift amount, every event — is stored only in a database on your own device. We never see it, and we cannot see it, because there is nowhere for it to go.
This Privacy Policy explains what happens — and, more to the point, what does not happen — to your information when you use 人情簿 Renqingbu (the "App"), made by Digital Publishing Co. ("we," "us," "our").
What we collect directly: nothing
The App does not include:
- An account or sign-in system
- Analytics or usage-tracking software
- Crash-reporting software
- Advertising or ad-tracking software
- Any network connection to servers we operate — because we don't operate any
We built it this way on purpose, not as a privacy afterthought. 人情簿 Renqingbu is a ledger of your personal and family relationships, and that kind of information deserves to stay off networks entirely.
What's stored, and where
Everything you enter into the App — names, relationships, occasions, amounts, notes, and event/guest lists — is saved in a local database (SQLite) inside the App's own storage on your device. It is never transmitted anywhere, by us or by the App itself.
Because there is no cloud backup, that data lives only on your device. If you delete the App, lose your device, or reset it without a device backup, that data is gone, and we have no copy anywhere to restore it from. If you use Apple's own iCloud or device-backup features, your phone's normal backup will include the App's data along with everything else on your device — that's Apple's backup system, not something we built, see, or control.
In-app purchases: Apple and RevenueCat
When you buy anything in the App, two outside parties are involved:
- Apple processes the payment itself. We never see your payment details — no card number, no Apple ID password, nothing. Apple's own privacy policy covers that transaction.
- RevenueCat, a purchase-management service, confirms that your purchase is valid and keeps track of which one-time purchases you own, so the App knows what to unlock. To do that, RevenueCat receives a device/app identifier and your purchase and transaction history from Apple's App Store. It does not receive your name, your ledger entries, or anything else you've typed into the App. RevenueCat's own privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
If you restore a previous purchase, the same identifier is used to look up what you've already bought.
Nothing is sold, nothing is shared for advertising
We don't sell your information, because we don't have any to sell. We don't share anything with data brokers or advertisers.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age — there's no collection mechanism to speak of, for anyone.
Your data, your control
Because everything lives on your device:
- Access — everything you've entered is visible to you at any time, in the App.
- Deletion — deleting the App deletes everything. There's no separate "delete my data" request to make, because we hold no copy anywhere to delete.
- Export — the App's own export features (CSV/PDF) are under your control; using them is your choice, and files you export are yours to manage from that point on.
Where this applies
We're based in Taiwan, and 人情簿 Renqingbu is built primarily around Taiwanese gift-giving customs. If you're using the App from the EU, UK, California, or anywhere else with its own privacy law, the practical answer is the same regardless of jurisdiction: since we don't operate a server and don't collect personal data ourselves, there is very little for those laws to reach. The purchase-processing described above is handled by Apple and RevenueCat under their own respective privacy policies and compliance programmes.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes — for example, if we ever add a feature that changes what's described above — we'll update this page and change the "Last updated" date. We won't quietly start collecting more than what's described here without updating this document first.
